  • Gateshead Council has recently  received the news that the designation of the Selective Licensing of Landlords in the Chopwell river streets has been approved.  This means that all landlords who own or manage properties in this area will need to obtain a licence to rent privately.

  • The Association have been approached by a number of tenants seeking property in London. It appears that a landlady who calls herself Miss Edmonds says she is a member of Gateshead Private Landlords Association.
  • FREE ENERGY SAVINGS MEASURES
  • Gateshead Warm Zone are a not for profit organisation working in partnership with Gateshead Council, Gateshead Housing Company and other organisations including Scottish Power and local voluntary groups. They aim to tackle fuel poverty and improve energy efficiency across Gateshead through an intensive 5 year project which provides home insulation measures and benefits advice.
  • HSE SAFETY WARNING ON GAS SAFETY AS STAFFORDSHIRE LANDLORD IS PROSECUTED FOLLOWING DEATH OF A TENANT
  • The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is warning tenants and landlords in the Staffordshire area about potentially unsafe gas installations in tenanted properties.
  • ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATES
  • From 1st October 2008, any private landlord renting out his property to a new tenant will need an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for the property.

Gateshead Council wants to honour residents who have created beautiful gardens after taking part in the block improvement scheme.

If you or your street has a gorgeous garden, with colourful plants, well maintained foliage and imaginitive use of space, why not nominate it for a block improvement in bloom award?

If you're a landlord, nominate your tenant and you'll get one years free membership of the Gateshead Private Landlords' Association (GPLA) if they win.

Three winners will be picked by local residents from a shortlist of the best entries.
